LSE Graduate Internships

Do you have an opportunity that would help an LSE graduate to develop a set of transferable skills which would equip them for their next career move?

LSE Graduate Internships provide recent LSE graduates with full-time, paid internship contracts in academic, research and professional service departments at the School. Internships are available up to an initial fixed period of twelve months, with potential for an additional extension up to a maximum of eighteen months contract subject to meeting specific criteria.

Perhaps you are piloting or launching a new project or service, have a major conference or events programme and require support.  You might want to review some of your current resources or online material or you could have a research brief that would be a great opportunity for one of LSE’s graduates.

LSE Careers can provide you with advice when designing the opportunity and advertise it for you via our LSE CareerHub platform. We will manage the application process, and can provide departments with a shortlist of candidates if requested.

Interns have previously been hosted by departments including LSE Advancement, Communications, the Institute of Global Affairs, Department of Management, IMT and Faith Centre.

Process and funding

Applications for central funding now OPEN - *deadline 9 December 2016*.

Refer to our step-by-step guide and frequently asked questions before completing an expression of interest form below.

  • Human Resources have drawn up a general Job Description and Person Specification which departments should use, but you are able to adapt the Job Summary to fit the position you would like to recruit.
  • Departments are able to either fund internships from their own surplus budgets, or apply for central funding, which is available to facilitate internships for departments on cash-based pay budgets, without the surplus to accommodate a new post.
  • To avoid unnecessary work, departments wishing to request central funding, should discuss the matter with Andy Gladin in the Finance Division (A.Gladin@lse.ac.uk, ext. 6222) before making an application.  Funds will only be approved if they are not already available within your departmental budget.

Submit an LSE Graduate Internship request form to express interest in hiring a graduate intern.
